Whitsand Bay is popular for surfing. Newquay and the famous Fistral beach is within easy driving distance for a day out. The Chalet overlooks the now famous HMS Scilla diving wreck (a former naval frigate scuttled in 2004) with boats in operation regularly from Plymouth and Looe. The beach is safe and clean for bathers with a flag system in force and a lifeguard station.
Discovery Surf School is situated on Tregonhawke beach below the chalet recognised by The Britsh Surfing Association.
If you enjoy walking, the South West Coast Path is famous for its rugged beauty and spectacular scenery.Plymouth is within easy driving distance across the Torpoint ferry with the superb new shopping mall Drake Circus, making Plymouth the shopping mecca of the South West. The Barbican is steaped in history with the beautiful Plymouth Hoe and the National Marine Aquarium which is world renowned. Dartmoor is also on the doorstep.
For golfing fans, Whitsand Bay Golf Club is the place to go.For the keen fishermen out there, there is no better place to fish, especially for bass, than the beach here at Whitsand Bay.With stunning sunsets to watch and a short walk from the comfort of the Chalet, what more could you ask for? For a day out the Monkey Sanctuary near Looe can be very fun indeed and is also an ecological research center.
